* The minimum rental time for customers who are passengers on cruise ships is four hours.

Age Limit: The minimum age limit for vehicle rental is 21 years and the maximum age limit is 80 years.

Driving licence: Interested customers must hold a valid driving license which must have been issued at least two years prior to the day of rental and be valid in Greece. Driving licences issued by a country outside the European Union (Switzerland excluded) must be accompanied by an international driving licence.

SmileCarRental has the right to cancel the rental if the driving licence presented on the first day of the rental is deemed unsuitable and without any obligation towards the renter.

Minimum rental period:

The minimum rental period for rentals booked via the Internet is three (3) days. If the rental exceeds two hours beyond the scheduled return of the vehicle the renter will be charged an additional daily .

Special seats for children and infants: The company has two types of seats available for infants and children between ten months and three years of age. The financial charge for these is 3.00 euros. For safety reasons, these seats are fitted to the car by the hirer and not by the company.

For security reasons, the responsible driver (or any other driver stated in the agreement with the company) must present a valid credit or debit card (Visa/Mastercard) when collecting the vehicle. From which the car’s exemption amount will have been deducted.

Failure to present a credit card may result in cancellation of the booking on the part SmileCarRental, without the company being subject to any form of refund to the customer (the deposit will be retained).

Fuel:

The renter is obliged to return the vehicle with the same petrol rate with which he/she received it. Should the car be returned with less petrol, the renter will be charged the difference. No refunds will be given if the car is returned with more petrol than the original petrol.

Calls and prosecutions:

Traffic citations and traffic violations during the rental period are the sole responsibility of the renter.

The use of an additional driver:

If a second driver is declared, the charge is zero. If a second driver is added, the fee is EUR 3 per day.

SmileCarRental offers “Free Mileage” from day one! There is no mileage limit.

For rentals outside the border:

In this case a written pre-contract with the company is required.

For use of the vehicle on a ferry route:

Delivery/pick-up:

There is no charge for delivery and collection from the airport and from our company office (during the hours 9.00-20.00) and within a radius of 15 km from the airport. For deliveries and pick-ups at longer distances or during out-of-office hours there will be an additional charge.

Payment methods:

SmileCarRental accepts payments in cash (Euros) and by credit card (Visa & Mastercard). The use of debit card is possible when the nature of the transaction is predetermined and can only be carried out at the company’s office.

Reservations/availability:

All reservations are made on the basis of the car category and not on the basis of the model. The Company is entitled to change the model of the booking with a corresponding model of the same category or in exceptional cases with another model.

INSURANCE:

Prices include the following:

For death or injury to third parties, up to 1,000,000 euros per victim.
For damage to third parties, up to 1,000,000 euros per accident, excluding SmileCarRental vehicles.
Indemnity for damage in the event of a collision: The renter is responsible for any damage (due to the renter’s fault) to the rental car up to:
The maximum amount of 500.00 euros for car categories A, B and C. The renter shall be liable for the damage caused by the rental car.The maximum amount of the rental car is up to 500.00 euros for car categories A, B and C.

The maximum amount of EUR 1200.00 for car categories H and I.
Full Fire & Theft Insurance.
24-hour roadside assistance on the islands of Kefalonia & Ithaca.
SmileCarRental DOES NOT PROVIDE ZERO ( EXCESS ) COVERAGE ON ANY OF THE CARS.

The insurance provided is not valid and the tenant is liable for all damages caused when:

The tenant is under the influence of alcohol or other substances.
The rental car is driven on unpaved roads (4X4 vehicles are excluded).
The rental car is driven with a flat tire.
The renter participates in car racing events or drives dangerously.
The renter violates the Greek K.O.K.
The renter uses fuel other than that recommended by the manufacturer of the rental car.
The car is driven by an unauthorized person (not mentioned in the agreement)
The renter does not return the rental car on the date and time stated in the rental agreement.
Additional explanations:

All insurances are valid only on the islands of Kefalonia and Ithaca.
All fines are paid by the renter.
All damages to the tyres of the rented vehicle are paid by the renter.
The damaged or lost car key is paid by the renter.
Fuel is paid by the renter.
Excessive dirt (sand or sunscreen or salt water stains inside the rental car) or damage to the interior of the rental car must be paid for by the renter.
Bookings are made by car category and not by car type or model.
